Bitcoin to Hit $250,000 This Year? Experts Weigh In Amid Tariffs, Turbulence & Market Jitters

Bitcoin dipped below the $77,000 level last week — before surging past $82,000 on Wednesday when Trump declared a 90-day tariff hiatus.

Following a hot-headed series of “reciprocal tariffs” declared by U.S. President Donald Trump last month — affecting more than 180 nations — global markets were shaken. The stock market shook, crypto dumped hard, and investors rushed to rebalance. But in the midst of all the chaos, some analysts are now predicting that Bitcoin’s recent gains might be the harbinger of a massive bull run — potentially taking the price to a whopping $250,000 by the end of 2025.

Is it a viable goal? Or another hype cycle?

Tariffs, Trump & Tumult
The disruption started when President Donald Trump introduced broad new tariffs in the name of “reciprocity.” It shocked trade networks across the world. As a reaction, some nations threatened retaliatory tariffs, further escalating tensions. Stock markets reacted with volatility. The S&P 500 fell more than 3% in a day while the Nasdaq fell into correction grounds.

During the selloff, Bitcoin fell to below $77,000 — the lowest it has been in close to three months. Crypto investors worried about a wider liquidity drought as institution investors scrambled to risk-off assets.

But on Wednesday, events turned sharply. Trump suddenly suspended all new tariffs for 90 days in the name of “ongoing negotiations and goodwill gestures.” Bitcoin instantly rallied, shooting past $82,000 within hours — a step some analysts describe as a testament to its growing role as a macro-hedge.

Insider Moves & Market Manipulation?
Adding to the speculation is also unsubstantiated reports of insider trading related to Trump’s tariff announcement. Financial watchdogs report that an unusual spike in Bitcoin and Tesla options volumes was reported just hours prior to the 90-day pause being announced.

“Unusual call option activity in Bitcoin and tech stocks prior to the tariff pause suggests someone might have had prior knowledge,” said Adam Linfield, a market analyst at Horus Capital.

Although no official charges have been brought, the SEC and CFTC have informally opened investigations into trading trends on Bitcoin derivatives exchanges.

Why Experts Remain Bullish
In spite of the turmoil, insiders are surprisingly bullish. ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood, a veteran Bitcoin bull, recently reaffirmed her $250,000 end-2025 price target, citing the coin’s increasing use in global finance and its limited supply.

Bitcoin is still one of the only genuinely decentralized assets on the planet. During a period of rising geopolitical and monetary uncertainty, investors will resort to digital gold,” Wood told a recent interview.

Reiterating similar views, Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz said: “Tariffs can devastate equities and commodities, but Bitcoin excels in times of uncertainty. If DJT prevails in November, anticipate more economic turmoil — and Bitcoin might become the ultimate safe haven.”

Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk weighed in on X (formerly Twitter), writing cryptically: “In chaos lies opportunity. $BTC.”

Trump Media, Tesla, and Bitcoin’s Interwoven Story
What’s also interesting is the way Bitcoin and Trump-associated businesses have begun to march together. Following the tariff reprieve, Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) jumped more than 18% in a day, as retail investors flooded in on X-driven and Reddit hype.

Meanwhile, Tesla, which previously said it would resume accepting Bitcoin payments for certain models, surged sharply. Analysts cite this convergence as proof of a new narrative emerging — one in which Bitcoin is at the intersection of tech, politics, and monetary policy.

“Whether it’s Elon’s pull, Trump’s populist economic tests, or crashing confidence in central banks, the next bull cycle may not be fueled solely by halving events — but by political turmoil,” said crypto economist Dr. Nina Rao.

But What About the Risks?
Nevertheless, not everyone agrees. Some institutional investors claim the $250,000 goal is too ambitious, particularly with macro headwinds piling up.

Aggressive rate cuts this year by the Fed are unlikely. Liquidity globally is also contracting, and that’s not good news for speculative things like crypto,” cautions Rajeev Menon, CIO of Blackhill Capital.

In addition, regulatory doubt remains a long shadow. The Biden administration, unlike Trump, has been more aggressive in advocating for the regulation of crypto — an additional layer of risk for investors based in the United States.

The present Bitcoin rally could be driven by short-term relief and opportunistic buying, but the larger question hangs in the air: can it actually reach $250,000 in 2025?
