Razer’s CEO Min-Liang Tan says artificial intelligence won’t just change gaming — it’ll obliterate the old rules and rebuild the $189 billion industry from scratch.

Something massive is coming for gamers — and it’s not a new console, sequel, or expansion pack.

It’s artificial intelligence.

And according to Min-Liang Tan, billionaire co-founder and CEO of Razer, AI is about to wreck the rulebook of gaming, flipping one of the world’s biggest entertainment industries on its head.

“This is going to completely disrupt everything,” Tan warned on CNBC’s Beyond the Valley podcast. “AI will change how games are made, how they’re played, and how they evolve.”

Translation? The way you experience games — and maybe even your favorite titles — is about to change forever.

“In a Year, You’ll See AI-Built Blockbuster Games”

Tan isn’t talking about distant-future science fiction. He says the shift is already happening — and fast.

“In a year’s time, we might see one or two major hit games that are built almost entirely using AI,” he predicted.

That means AI systems designing worlds, writing dialogue, and coding levels — all without human intervention. The first fully AI-built mega-hit might be just months away.

For an industry worth nearly $189 billion and reaching 3.6 billion players, that’s not evolution — it’s a digital earthquake.

Goodbye Developers? AI Is Already Doing Their Job Faster

Developers, beware — AI is coming for your keyboards.

Game studios are already using AI tools to generate 3D assets, create storylines, and even compose original music. Tasks that used to take teams of hundreds now take minutes.

Some AI systems can generate entire levels that adapt to a player’s skill, making every gaming experience unique.

Imagine a game that literally learns from you — your playstyle, your habits, your choices — and changes itself in real time. That’s not fantasy anymore; that’s next year’s tech.

The $189 Billion Power Shift No One’s Ready For

Gaming is now one of the most profitable entertainment sectors on the planet — bigger than Hollywood and the music industry combined.

But AI could upend that balance of power overnight.

With the cost of development dropping, small indie teams could soon challenge gaming giants like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft. The next billion-dollar franchise might come from a laptop, not a studio.

“The barriers are disappearing,” Tan said. “AI will allow anyone to build something extraordinary.”

For some companies, that’s thrilling. For others? Terrifying.

What Happens When AI Becomes the Game Designer?

This isn’t just about saving time or cutting costs — it’s about creativity on a new level.

AI isn’t just helping developers — it’s starting to think like one. It can dream up weapons, quests, and worlds that human designers might never imagine.

Games could soon write themselves — infinite, evolving universes that never end, never repeat, and always surprise.

But that raises a bigger question: if AI builds the games… who’s really the creator?

The Dark Side of AI Gaming

Not everyone’s celebrating.

Some experts fear an AI gaming bubble, where low-effort, mass-produced titles flood the market. Others worry about creativity — can a machine really make a story that feels human?

Then there’s the question of jobs. What happens to game developers, writers, and artists when AI starts doing everything?

Even Tan admits the shift will be uncomfortable. “It’s a disruption,” he said. “But it’s also the biggest opportunity we’ve ever seen.”

The Future of Gaming: Built by Machines, Played by Billions

If Tan is right, the next gaming revolution won’t come from a new console or graphics engine — it’ll come from algorithms.

AI isn’t just speeding up development. It’s changing what a game even is. Imagine worlds that generate themselves, NPCs that remember you, and stories that evolve forever.

That’s not a dream — that’s the future of gaming. And it’s coming faster than anyone’s ready for.

The only question is: who will control it — humans or machines?

The Game Has Changed. Forever.

Tan’s warning isn’t hype. It’s a reality check for an industry that’s about to be rewritten by code.

AI won’t just improve games. It will rebuild them from scratch — and the companies that don’t adapt will disappear.

One thing’s for sure: the next decade of gaming won’t look anything like the last.

Because in this new era, AI isn’t just playing the game — it’s creating it.
