Anticipation is building as Hyundai’s popular SUV, the Creta, is set to receive a facelift, making its global debut on January 16, 2024, according to a report by Autocar India (ACI). The refreshed model is expected to hit the market in early 2024, featuring distinctive exterior changes and advanced technology to compete effectively in its segment.

The upcoming Creta facelift, designed specifically for the Indian market, will showcase a unique exterior design. Spy shots mentioned in the ACI report reveal that the rear styling will undergo a significant transformation, aligning it more closely with the aesthetics of newer Hyundai models like the Exter, the new Santa Fe, and the Palisade.

The existing Creta model, in circulation since 2020, has retained its design in several global markets. While other regions witnessed design updates, India continued with the original model. The facelift promises a refreshing change, enhancing the SUV’s appeal with a more contemporary appearance.

Minor tweaks to the alloy wheel designs will be part of the side profile changes, and there are indications of larger 18-inch wheels being offered on select variants.

In terms of features, the updated Creta will incorporate an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) bundle and a 360-degree camera, bringing it in line with technological offerings in the competitive SUV segment. Interior updates may include new upholstery shades, while the 10.25-inch infotainment screen is expected to persist from the current version.

The facelift’s powertrain will receive a significant upgrade with the introduction of a new 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine, already present in models like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Alcazar, Hyundai Verna, and Kia Carens, will offer flexibility with a choice of a seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) or a manual gearbox.

Alongside the turbo-petrol option, the Creta facelift will continue to offer the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both delivering 115hp. The diesel engine boasts a maximum torque of 250 Nm, while the NA petrol engine provides 143.8 Nm of torque.

As the unveiling date approaches, automotive enthusiasts eagerly await the global debut of the Hyundai Creta facelift, anticipating a combination of enhanced design, advanced features, and a more powerful engine option.
