The BSE Sensex opened above the 81,500 points threshold, recording an intraday high of 81,650 — surpassing previous all-time highs set earlier this week. The Nifty50 followed suit, touching 24,870 before settling at 24,855. Both indices closed with over 0.50% gains as bullish sentiment prevailed across the broader market.

“The Indian markets continue to witness robust momentum due to solid corporate earnings and supportive global cues,” said Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking.“Buyers remain confident as the economic outlook improves and liquidity stays strong.”

Sectoral Performances

Banking and Financials: Major lenders such as HDFC Bank and State Bank of India led the rally, posting gains of over 1.5%.

Information Technology: IT heavyweights like Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services benefited from signs of recovery in the US tech sector.

Auto and FMCG: Maruti Suzuki and Hindustan Unilever advanced on positive sales data and steady rural demand.

The Nifty Bank index rose nearly 1%, bolstered by positive quarterly updates and ongoing credit growth across leading banks.

What’s Fueling the Rally?

Foreign Inflows and Strong Fundamentals

Foreign institutional investors have ramped up buying in Indian equities amidst global risk-off sentiment. According to NSE data, net FII inflows surpassed ₹4,000 crore in the past week alone, reflecting renewed faith in emerging markets.

“Institutional flows have been supportive, and the resilience of the Indian economy against external shocks is drawing global capital,” said Meenakshi Sharma, Head of Equity Research at Axis Securities.

Positive Macroeconomic Indicators

India’s manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest pace in 18 months, according to the latest PMI data released Tuesday. Core sector growth and stable inflation further cemented a favorable outlook.

Global Cues

Wall Street’s overnight advance, aided by upbeat economic readings and expectations of a US Federal Reserve rate cut later this quarter, set a positive tone for Asian and Indian markets.

Market Outlook: What’s Next for Investors?

Despite the ongoing uptrend, analysts advise caution.

“Valuations are getting stretched, so some consolidation is likely,” noted Ravi Singhal, CEO of GCL Broking. “Investors should focus on fundamentally sound stocks and avoid speculative bets at these lofty levels.”

Midcap and smallcap indices also touched new records, but are seen as particularly vulnerable to corrections if sentiment shifts.

Broader Impacts and Investor Sentiment

Market experts attribute ongoing strength to both domestic investors’ unwavering participation and the return of global funds. Retail inflows into equity mutual funds have remained strong, showcasing confidence in India’s long-term growth story.

“We’re seeing increased SIP investments and retail trading activity, which adds to market depth and stability,” explained Neha Gupta, Senior Economist at Edelweiss Financial.
